CE Requirements

All of our home study CE courses are approved by NCBTMB and New York State Board of Massage Therapy. It's our current understanding of the information below. Applicants seeking for the license renewal have your own responsibility to check your state board of massage therapy since the laws are constantly changing.

New York

36 CE hours every 3 years for license renewal

Allowed online CE hours: 36

Alabama

16 CE hours every 2 years

Allowed online CE hours: 16

Alaska

16 CE hour by September 30th of each odd-numbered year.

Mississippi

24 CE hours every 2 years

3 CE hours in Mississippi Law, Rules and Regulations, 3 CE hours in Ethics, and 3 hours in CPR/First Aid renewal from a recognized MSBMT provider.

Missouri

12 CE hours by January 31st of every odd year

Nebraska

16 CE hours every 2 years. Massage therapy licenses expire November 1st every odd year. 3 CE hours in ethics.

Nevada

12 CE hours for first 2 year license renewal, 24 CE hours every two years for all renewals thereafter.

For any licenses issued between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2020, 12 CE hours are needed; all renewals thereafter will require 24 CE hours every two years.

4 CE hours in ethics.

Allowed online CE hours: 8 non-technique

3 CE hours in ethics.

Allowed online CE hours: 24 (For the renewal periods ending December 31, 2021, 2022, and 2023 ONLY)

North Dakota

Renewal every 2 years

TEMPORARY CE CHANGES DUE TO PANDEMIC

∙Licensed/practicing 1-14 years: 24 CE hours are required. A maximum of 10 CE. hours of home study programs.For renewal on 2/28/2022, all of hours can be obtained through home study programs.

∙Licensed/practicing 15-24 years: 6 CE hours of home study programs.

∙Licensed/practicing 25+ years: 3 CE hours of home study programs.

Ohio

No continuing education requirements.

Oklahoma

5 CE hours every year

Allowed online CE hours: 5

Oregon

12 CE hours between June 30, 2021 to July 1, 2022 1 hour in Cultural Competency, and the 1 hour online Pain Management Module course provided by the Oregon Pain Management Commission. Basic Life Support certification and the hours spent obtaining your certification (whether completed online or in person) counted towards total 12 CE hours.

SUSPENDED: The 4 hour ethics, boundaries and communication requirement for renewals received between June 30, 2021 and July 1, 2022.

For renewal applications received after July 1, 2022 and applications that were submitted before this day but not completed by July 1, 2022, 25 CE hours of home study courses including a minimum of 15 contact hour and requirements in ethics and others.

Pennsylvania

24 CE hours every 2 years.

4 CE hours in ethics and 2 CE hours in child abuse recognition and reporting.

Rhode Island

6 CE hours every year by June 30th for license renewal.

24 CE hours every 2 years

2 CE hours be in Tennessee statutes and rules and 2 CE hours be in practice management, ethics or substance abuse.

CE hour in ethics, or the therapist must hold a current certification from the NCBTMB.

24 CE hours every 2 years for license renewal

4 CE hours in ethics, communication and/or Washington state massage laws and rules.

2 of these 4 CE hours must include professional roles and boundaries.
